Trans Link Systems (TLS) was founded specifically to realise the nationwide OV-chipkaart system for public transport. The starting point being that all Dutch public transport companies will be connected to the new system. This changes the mode of payment for passengers in public transport. The OV-chipkaart is chargeable and contactless and replaces both the “strippenkaart” and paper train tickets and paper season tickets.
